faucet filter makes a mess May 23, 2007 Sam Lover (WI) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If I had reviewed this within six months of buying it I probably would have said it was ok. But, after a while it started spraying where the filter connects and made a real mess. Changing the filter worked for a few weeks but then it did it again. I gave one to my mother and hers did the same thing. I ended up ditching it and bought a counter top model by Aquafina.
Great Product- T errible Fit May 15, 2007 Elisabeth (washington dc) I'm someone who's in the environment field and very health conscious- so I did a lot of research before determining that WaterPik F-8 now sold to Instapure was exactly what I wanted and for an amazing price. It certainly removed as much or more than the $400 products out there. I could hardly wait to get it installed. When it arrived I tried to put it on, nothing worked- the fit was not good and water was spewing all over the place. The push button from filtered to non-filtered water was flimsy and did not work properly. I called my husband- he spent about 3-4 hours laboring over this thing, finally getting it to fit but we still had the water spewing from different parts so that I had to angle my container to get the filtered water away from the unfiltered water. Then, after about a week, the unit fell off the faucet and we've never been able to put it on again. I'd say to Instapure- great idea, terrible, cheap, flimsy design- why don't you use the same filtration system but in a new design that actually works well. I'd be willing to pay up to $100-$150 for this product if it works.
Better Than The Other Choices November 10, 2006 Ralph Harris (San Francisco, CA) I really like this: water tastes great (ours has heavy clorine taste unfiltered); filter lasts us 6 months; easy to install and even easier to replace the filter -- just like a light bulb); the unit is not as bulky over the sink as other models I've tried; it is certified to filter out more bad stuff than any other product. For those who prefer a pitcher with filter, this is a much better choice. You can fill GLASS bottles with filtered water from the tap and keep them in the frig. No more fresh water sitting around in plastic jugs, which have their own odors and chemical break-down problems. The only negatives: filters are not as easily found as other brands; Amazon's price is not competitive for the replacement filters, but is the best for the initial unit, especially when they frequently have a promotional offer for Waterpik purchases (check "Today's Deals", then click "Health and Personal Care" to see if Waterpik is listed -- usually every 2 or 3 months).
breaks down fast October 19, 2006 M. Geilich (New Hampshire) I wanted to love this unit. Filtratrion/price was excellent by the books. But first, the green light that's supposed to change to red when it's time to change the filter never did anything but blink green. Then the automatic return to unfiltered water switch stopped working, but that was OK to switch back and forth manually. Then, the cartridges didn't last as long as they were supposed to - beware the expensive razor blade. Finally, the thing started spewing little streams of pressurized water out the back and sides of the cartidge. Hope I can find a decent unit elsewhere, I'm done with this one. It did do a good job of filtering the water though.
Terrific and convenient October 13, 2005 S. Potter (Portland, OR) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Every faucet filter I've used before works fine for the first two weeks, and then the water starts coming out slower and slower and S L O W E R. The Waterpik one keeps up the velocity and volume just great for months, and in more than a year I've never had a problem with the attachment ring breaking. I'm sticking with this one. Plus, it's really each to change the filters: turn the old one a quarter-turn, pull it off, put the new one on, click it into place, run the water for a couple minutes. Boom, clean water.
