5 out of 5 stars fantastic!   November 3, 2008

This is a great snack! I have two toddlers with numerous food allergies and these have proven to be a delicious, healthy snack for them. It's quick and easy, perfect for on-the-go. Also great for the stroller. The little guys love holding the their own bag and reaching in when they want more.

1 out of 5 stars Safety Concerns, Landfill Concerns   September 12, 2008

Do we really need to get highly processed apples in wasteful little bags, shipped all the way from CHINA? The whole concept of importing a product we have in such abundance in our own country strikes me as wrong and stupid. China is known for its appalling safety record. Many people won't buy pet food from China because of all the contaminant scandals over the past year. Why would you want to risk it with your own health? It is well documented that we are all carrying a large amounts of pesticides in our bodies - see http://www.stonyfield.com/MenuForChange/library/ScientificStudies.cfm for a summary of recent reports on the topic. Chinese farmers are far more likely to overdose their food with pesticides than US farmers growing conventionally. Try getting your dried fruits from American sources, rather than overseas - organic if you can, but even something more local will be better. And save all that wasteful packaging (and your money) by buying in bulk and using reusable containers. www.nutsonline.com offers a vast array of dried fruits - I am sure there are many others.

Crispy to satisfy the need to crunch. Healthy because it is 100% fruit. Awesome snack for anyone, especially kids. Great way to get your recommended servings of fruits everyday, no matter where you go!! I LOVE all the varieties!!

4 out of 5 stars Unexpectedly Delicious!   August 14, 2008

I've tried several brands of freeze-dried fruit before, and these are the only ones that don't have any kind of weird chemical aftertaste to them. They taste precisely like the fruit, only a little dry (almost like a popcorn version of the fruit). I bought the apricot one, since I love apricots. I'm very happy with the flavor.

The only complaint is that it was a little unnerving to see so many green-tinged pieces, but it looks like it's green from slightly underripe fruit and not from mold. Well, that, and I wish the bags were larger, but all the other brands are like that too. If I pack these bags with too many heavy things in my purse, it's very easy to end up with a bag of fruit dust, so keep that in mind. I will definitely be buying these again, even though they are expensive, they make a great lo-cal dessert at work.

I did try the apples & they're terrific...I live in a studio apartment and when I woke up the entire room was filled with that smell of the bag...it made me so sick..much to much chemicals used to make that bag.....there's NO doubt in my head that it's in those apples also
