best cherries ever July 2, 2008 M. Rouse (Rocky Mount, NC USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had a cherry pie recipe for few years now - from the can of tart cherries I used to buy in Dominick's chain in IL. In NC there was only one store that had them, but far away. Finally, I bought a case of cherries from Amazon and it will just quote my husband's reaction - "Honey, this is the best cherry pie I ever tasted".

I always buy these cherries. My favorite cake is Black forest Cherry Cake, and the Oregon Red Tart Cherries are ideal for this recipe.

and I used to. Growing up in western NY I picked tree ripened sour cherries, pitted and canned them, knowing no canned cherries on the market could compare to the home canned ones. After moving to southern California and finding that sour cherries won't grow here it took me several years to discover Oregon brand cherries, but in the 32 years since then I won't make a cherry pie with any other kind. Thank you, Amazon, for carrying them. So few people cook anymore, it seems, they're getting hard to find.

Top flight cherries October 1, 2007 Robert B. Swanson (Joliet, Illinois) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The Oregon Pitted Red Tart Cherries are the fruit of choice for my wife who is an excellent pie baker. The price offered on-line is 20 to 30 cents less per can than can be found in any of the grocery stores, not all of which carry this product. Thanks for making them available, I'm looking forward to enjoying the taste of the pies.
