Fresh minty taste but slightly chewy stale texture July 8, 2008 J. Sheppard (Cincinnati, OH United States) At a local store I had been buying various bars individually to try to narrow down what I like. I found a Pria Chocolate Mint Cookie bar. It was only 110 calories, and tasted EXACTLY like Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. Later I was adjusting my subscriptions here on Amazon, and found this product, the Slim Fast Optima Chocolate Mint Crisp and it has 120 calories, so I decided to pull the trigger and add it to my subscriptions. I figured it would be a great between meals snack to help keep me from over indulging on something worse :-) Problem is these bars are not as good as the Pria bars. Their taste is similar, sweet and minty. But when you chomp down on them, their not as crispy, and something about the texture seems off. After I ate the first one, I had to go check the date on the box, because I thought it might have gone stale. Their not bad. I will not have trouble finishing off the case I bought. But I have to make sure that I don't get the Pria bars in before I finish these off (cause then it might be hard to finish them :-) As always, to each their own. But I'd suggest trying the Pria bars instead of these, if you like Thin Mints. Oh, and as far as sugar, I THINK they are similar in the amount of sugar. But don't take my word for it. As my diet is not necessarily sugar restricted, so long as my total calories are low. Bear
Tastes so good... July 2, 2008 BettyBoop (Baltimore, Md) Delivery was great-fast and product was in good shape. Tastes like you'd expect. Kind of like a thin mint cookie. And the crunch part is really good. The texture kind of has a similar texture to oreo crumbs at the bottom of cake. Just don't go overboard because the product warns about too much consumption having a laxative effect.
great taste, great fix... March 27, 2008 M. Faithfull (Mexico) great taste, low in fat, small enough to pack away . I take one on the road with me everyday..one of my favorites to pack on travelling trip.
It's a long story -- danger! August 24, 2007 Susan Swan (Corpus Christi, TX) 1 out of 7 found this review helpful
I LOOOOOVE Slim-Fast chocolate mint crisp bars. They are chocolaty, minty, and crispy, three of my favorite things! Yet, sad to say, one lot of them was also metallic. Something from one of the machines broke off in one lot, a lot I had bought, and I cracked a back molar with it. I called Slim-Fast. They paid me back for it, and sent me a box to return the misfit box and label with. I also emailed Amazon. Then, I thought, I have 7 other boxes of these! It HAD to be a fluke. No. I bit into another metallic piece within four bars. This time it didn't hurt anything, luckily. What I am mainly p-o'ed about is this: they only refunded my money. They MAY refund my dental work, but only MAYBE. I was not given any kind of coupons or other free material. NOT EVEN ONE COUPON!!! I have spent literally thousands of dollars of slim-fast over the last 5 years. I losts 60 pounds on it. I refer people to it all of the time. Yet I get only a refund check and a maybe we'll pay your medical bills? I want free stuff, and I want a lot of it. I have gone to the dentist, and the tooth has to be crowned. We're waiting to do that until I get back, but for now, I have a big old black spot in my smile, like I'm Ma Kettle. Plus, it hurts, pretty much all of the time. In addition, I have a phobia of dentists which I'd rather not go into detail about. This extremely unpleasant experience has not been responded to with enough empathy by either company. Ugh. I want free stuff. From both Amazon and Slim-Fast. I am a very good customer (look at my reviews to see the extent of stuff I buy from Amazon), but I'm also a mightily disappointed customer right now.
We Love It! July 11, 2007 L. Mata I ordered these as a low fat, low sugar snack or dessert. My husband, when he saw them, was so disappointed, saying that he did not like "those" bars. I urged him to try one. He loved them and reminded me yesterday that we were about out and to be sure and order more.
