does its job December 17, 2008 Derek Beresdivin Does its job for the price. It could be a little better designed, not sure it's completely spill proof either, but seems okay so far. Shipping was more than itshould have been.
Shakes great. November 23, 2008 PATRICK OBRIEN (Rockville, MD) This is a great shaker. I've purchased the ones you find at the strip malls and major stores, but they don't compare to these. NO LEAKS WHEN YOU SHAKE IT! <--That's my biggest pet peeve. Plus, the one thing they don't tell you is that you don't smell the protein powder once you wash them. As long as you wash these each time you use them, there will be no problems.
Horrendous product engineering... August 9, 2008 Amazon is Retarded - Real Name 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you want to look like a toddler with a leaky sippy-cup while drinking your protein shake, this is the bottle to get! I used several of these for a couple years as they were given out free for bulk protein powder orders from a different online merchant. Reasons to avoid: O-Ring design (as others have mentioned) is simply idiotic. It's small, easy to tear, easy to lose, and makes sealing your bottle far trickier than it should be. Most bottles simply attach the rubber gasket to the top or bottom of the bottle... why oh why would the "Ultimate Shaker" decide that this needed to be a separate part? Seal between bottle top and body is NOT secure, even if you have the o-ring loaded correctly. I'm a student, and i would often throw one of these bottles in my backpack in the morning, only to find my bag covered in protein powder by lunch. The latch on the bottle top's lid (to drink from) is NOT secure. It's prone to catching on things and popping open if in a bag. There's no mechanism to keep it closed securely. It's TINY! I'd load this with 40g of protein powder (i'm a tall guy who lifts weights, so your size and exercise goals might make this point less relevant) and it really couldn't hold enough water to effectively mix all the powder. I really can't think of any situation where this bottle would be acceptable. *Maybe* if all you're doing is using it to hold water for a bike ride or something, but even then it'll probably leak a quarter of the water. If you need something cheap and that's why you're considering this bottle, just reuse a liter size poland spring bottle from the convenience store. If you need to get powder into it, use a funnel. It's cheap, won't leak, and it's durable.
Best bang for your buck August 4, 2008 N. Stein (Baton Rouge, LA USA) When I was looking this was the cheapest shaker I could find. I'm usually a more $ means better product...but come on, we are buying a plastic cup for mixing stuff. Basically you are paying a certain amount because you are too lazy to use a spoon. With all that in mind, you won't be disappointed in the "ultimate" shaker. Mixes better, more completely and faster than I ever did with a spoon or fork. Doesn't always get everything mixed depending on what you are mixing. I am usually mixing the ON Whey or the ON casein. The whey it does near perfect, the casein it leaves small undissolved lumps in the bottom corner of the cup. No leaks whatsoever, unless you include my occasional inability to properly drink out of a cup without spilling it on myself (usually pull the top off and use as cup instead of bottle). I see the o-ring in there but I've had no issues with it moving or comming out or anything. I hand wash the shaker though so dishwasher may or may not cause problems. The cap comming of is a misleading complaint. The cap does constantly and consistently fall off but that is when it is open. When closed it seals well and is on there pretty scure. The cap has problems at the nonbusiness end, where it connects to the top (hinge for lack of a better name). When open it takes little effort to knock the top out of it's little tab hinge type thing. No big deal, pop it back in as easily as it popped out. It's a cheap plastic cup with a screen, a top, and a cap. Why spend more for the exact same thing? I would recommend it to a friend or to strangers on the internet.
Terrible o-ring design July 20, 2008 T. Brown (Maryland) While I like the large size and fine shaker screen in this product, the design relies on a removable rubber o-ring to seal. It comes out in the dishwasher, is difficult to put back on, and without it the shaker leaks badly. Obviously, if the o-ring falls out and gets damaged in the dishwasher, the shaker is useless. The flip-top also falls off too easily. Mine lasted only a month or so. Don't bother with this one.
