5 out of 5 stars By far the best wax I've used   October 23, 2008
Daniel Buki (Champaign, Illinois)
This product has the moxie others lack. My normally disobedient hair whimpers in desperation at the sight of the pretty red jar, as its proximity signifies that forced submission soon comes.

Guys, here are some suggestions to get the most out of the product:

SOFTEN THE WAX for easier application by melting it with your blow dryer. Blow it directly into the jar on high/hot until the product begins to shine, and then for a few seconds more 'til you can scoop it up with your fingertips.

SCULPT BANGS by pinching, clumping and shaping, being sure to coat the entire style surface.

MATTE THE STYLE by blending equal amounts wax and Sumo Tech on your fingertips before applying. This works especially well for nerd chic (distribute evenly from the roots, finger-comb, comb-comb and part) and bed-head/mod styles (with lightly-coated fingers and palms, squeeze clumps into clenched fists). As always with Sumo Tec, look carefully for undissolved white particulate before considering it did.

FREEZE THE STYLE into place using your blow dryer's cold shot for several seconds.
...for FULL STYLE, use diffuser at high speed.
...for BANGS ONLY, use concentrator at low speed from about 12 inches.

For FUNKY STYLES, try using in conjunction with Bed Head Wax Stick.

To impart STAYING POWER or to BREEZE-PROOF your craftsmanship, finish off with a moderate, even mist of B&B Extra-Strength Holding Spray. It works well over the wax, leaves no nasty residue and holds like concrete. Plus, it doesn't make your hair fall out.

5 out of 5 stars Very good, if you use it correctly!   August 13, 2008

I got a jar of this as a stocking stuffer a couple years ago. I had opened the box and threw out the directions (who needs directions for product?) long before I first used it. So, I get my hair cut really short in the spring and my other products aren't cutting it and I decide to try the wax. It worked great, but it took a really long time to apply! The wax was so hard that I could only get a little bit on my fingers at a time. Took about five minutes to get enough on what little hair I had.

Well, I get another jar and look at the directions and see that you are supposed to melt it with your hairdryer first! D'oh! So much easier to apply. Actually too easy, since you can over-apply it! I don't use a hairdryer, so I soak it in a the sink with hot water while I shower. It is ready to go when I am.

It gives great control and, like the others have said, texture. I can run my hands through it and it doesn't feel waxy, stiff or crunchy. Great for hot days, since sweat doesn't affect it. Perfect for really short hair, but I have started to use it when my hair is longer, too. My hair grows fast and I sometimes use three different types of product depending on the length. The only minus is it will leave waxy streaks on your sunglasses it you wear them on top of your head.

I got one jar that was soft, though. I thought they had changed the formula (because of idiots like me) so you didn't need to heat it. Well, I have never gotten another like that. Maybe it was counterfeit? The Chinese will copy anything these days. If you're ever in Paris, visit the musee de la contrefacon and see what I mean!

5 out of 5 stars The Best I've Found   March 27, 2008

I have thick thick hair. And it doesn't ever do what I want it to do. This is the only product that Ive found that will hold my hair where I put it without turning my head into an impenetrable rock.

I've tried dozens of different products and I keep coming back to the Sumo Wax. Don't let the small jar fool you. It lasts a long time.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Product!   March 3, 2008
Jewel Cardwell (Centreville, VA United States)
I just got a fairly short, choppy haircut. My usual micro fiber hair product just didn't do the trick at all. I asked some friends for advice and they suggested hair wax. I bought this one after reading the previous reviews and I am not disappointed at all. I have very fine hair that can be a bit difficult to style, much less hold the style. This wax makes it a breeze. And it holds amazingly well. It gives my hair plenty of texture too.

4 out of 5 stars Great Product--but this is 1.5 Ounces NOT 1.8 Ounces   December 6, 2007

Bumble and bumble sumo wax rocks. It is much better than any gel you could buy. I give it five stars.

But it is not 1.8 Ounces as listed in the title. It is 1.5 Ounces. So if you are comparison shopping, keep this in mind.
