2 out of 5 stars Little pieces, not resealable   August 27, 2008

Taste was fine. I got peppered, and there wasn't much pepper. But the biggest drawbacks to this product are two-fold: little pieces (more like jerky flakes with a few 2 square inch pieces), and the bags are not resealable, so unless you are planning to consume the bag in one sitting you'll need to wrap it tightly or move it to a sealable bag. I will pay more for brands like Jack Links, with very high quality, in the future.

5 out of 5 stars I care what I eat   August 1, 2008

Per a previous reviewers comments - I do care what I eat. Grass Fed beef is hormone and antibiotic free and is typically leaner than corn fed or grain fed beef. This product is delicious, and a great snack! I eat it all of the time!

3 out of 5 stars Good enough   July 22, 2008

I purchased the Peppered Flavor and the Teriyaki flavor in an Amazon deal. I keep beef jerky in my car for those times that I am about to fall asleep during a rush hour drive at 5mph (oooh! all the excitement). As the previous reviewer the Pepper flavor is definitely comparable to Jack's Links (my most common walmart bought jerky). Out of a 4-ounce bag I would get maybe 4 or so TOUGH tiny tendon pieces (if you've eaten beef jerky, you know what I mean, those annoying little ones that you just have to spit out after chewing and chewing...). The pepper flavoring is strong, close to Jack's Links but slightly spicier. Avoid the Teriyaki flavor at ALL COST, it doesn't taste like Teriyaki, it just tastes like EXTRA SALTY... bleargh!

The packaging is nice, but I wish there was a ZIP LOCK like Jack's Links or others to close it after eating a few pieces.

4 out of 5 stars Good flavor. It does use Brazillian beef if you care.   July 8, 2008

The jerky is well made with good flavor. It has nice chewy texture with strong pepper flavor. I think it compares pretty well to some of the better beef jerky brands such as Jack Links.

The beef jerky is made in Brazil. I have no idea what their standard is for beef production nor food processing is, but since imported beef is used in a lot of domestically processed foods including fast food chains, you'd best be cooking at home if consuming imported beef would be a great concern for you.

Also, there was the other reviewer who had a nice diatribe about this product containing all these "preservatives," but of the ingredients he listed, only sodium nitrate is in fact a preservative and a widely used one at that. The other chemicals listed also are generally known to be safe for human consumption.

While they're not exactly vitamins or anything that would be good for you, but if you're afraid of some emulsifiers or dehydrators, you probably shouldn't be eating factory made beef jerky or any processed food for that matter. A lot of these "chemicals" that are used in processed food are naturally occurring in whole foods any way.

I don't mean to discourage people from watching what they eat nor trying to eat healthier food. Rather I hope more people would try to research and understand what they're eating. I simply don't believe blind fear mongering is a way to go about it. Have some jerky. Enjoy life. Moderate.

HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED!!! Amazon did NOT listed DANGEROUS preservatives in this product!!! It contains: MSG, polysorbate 80, silicon dioxide, glycol propylene, sodium nitrate!!! My body does not need those toxins, DOES IT YOURS??? Moreover, the product was made in BRAZIL!!! WAS CATTLE FED ANTIBIOTIC AND HORMONE ENRICHED FOODS??? VERY DANGEROUS THING TO CONSUME INTO YOUR BODY!!!
