Gatorade Endurance Formula July 20, 2008 Jeffrey Gibson (Olathe, KS USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a marathon runner, I have learned (the hard way) to train with what I will be drinking during a race. Gatorade Endurance Formula is being used in a number of races I will be in this year, and it is as good as any sports drink I have tried. It has kept me from bonking on long runs with no stomach issues like some I have tried.
No be like Sasquatch. No eat powder. July 16, 2008 Sasquatch (The woods) 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
Sasquatch order this last month ago and me very disappointed. It hot in woods in summer where me live. Owl say Sasquatch should order this because it "Thirst Quencher" so me did. Day it come it very hot in woods. Me rip open box and find can. Sasquatch have some and me still thirsty. So me eat all powder. Now mouth is more dry. And powdery. And me still thirsty. Owl say after that Sasquatch should have mixed with water from stream. Me think Owl should tell Sasquatch before next time.
Gets the job done, but doesn't taste very good April 10, 2008 Stephen J. Carlson (Overland Park, Kansas United States) I recently tried the Gatorade Performance Series Lemon-Lime Mix, and I had mixed feelings about it. This drink quenches your thirst just as well as a regular Gatorade drink you buy in a bottle would, but in my experience the taste was not very good. However, for best results it is important to be sure the powder is mixed very well with the water. (I would suggest mixing it in a plastic bottle that you can shake really well.) This is probably the way to go if you drink Gatorade a lot and want to save some extra money. The powder makes 29 24-ounce servings, which equates to over five gallons of liquid Gatorade. Of course, I would recommend putting a little more powder than the instructions say in order to get the best taste. This product is great for athletes who consistently need Gatorade to quench their thirsts.
Good Alternative to Liquid Gatorade March 20, 2008 Weatherman (Northeast, Pennsylvania, USA) First let me say that I don't think anything can compare to the "regular" liquid Gatorade. However this powder does come close! It's a yellowish powder, which has a real "gatorade" aroma to it. Even if you put a dab into your mouth it it comes real close to the liquid Gatorade! Gatorade has that smooth taste. This instant Mix has a "tangy" taste...not bad, but different. After using it, I've found that I like to use a little extra than it calls for (if you use it per glass or gallon). I'd say this is great for those who are limited to weight and what they can carry, yet have access to water (camping, traveling, etc.). Just mix this up and you're set to go. Or for kids in the summertime, mix a jug of this up for them during activities.
Great for endurance athletes, others may want to stick with regular Gatorade March 20, 2008 Elliot Knapp (Seattle, Washington United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
As someone who has trained for and ran a marathon, I know from painful experience what happens if you go for a 17 mile run and don't replenish your electrolytes and carbohydrates along the way. I've also tried plain water in comparison with Gatorade enough times during runs to know that a bit of sugar and salt really makes a difference in energy levels and reduction of leg pain during runs and recovery after the run is over (no matter how hard it is to drink something sweet while on the run!). This "Endurance" formula differs from regular Gatorade because it contains more electrolytes (check out the nutrition fact comparison higher up on this page) and is designed to replenish those electrolytes lost by people who are doing fairly intense exercise for extended periods of time. After tasting this Gatorade, I was reassured that the flavor is pretty much comparable to regular Gatorade and there's no unpleasantness associated with almost double the sodium content. This Gatorade will be great for the next time I get off my lazy behind and train for a long race, but I won't be using much of it unless I'm doing long runs, nor would I recommend it to anyone who's not doing endurance training--say, at least an hour of running, swimming, or a couple hours of cycling. The increased levels of electrolytes are great for people who are sweating their bodies' salts out, but if you're not exercising long/hard enough, consuming that much sodium at one time will likely boost your daily intake way over the recommended amount, and the list of health problems that occur due to a high salt diet is very long! Happy exercising!
