5 out of 5 stars HoneyDew   September 27, 2007

I bought the Manuka and the Honeydew and love them both.

The Manuka is not as medicinal as I thought it would be, actually I wouldn't have minded it tasting more so. It was great regardless, a very mineral profile with a clean sharp finish. Excellent Honey with a unique taste that really cleans the palatte. Would taste great in Celestial Seasonings "Cold Care" tea.

The Honeydew was equally impressive. More like malt than honey, but with a definite honey bouquet. When I learned about honeydew honey I had to try it. Bees exploiting scale bugs for nectar? Exotic and fascinating. The aftertaste lingers shortly then dissipates smoothly, longer if you savor it. Its a complex, hearty honey with some nice diacetyl notes. Worth trying for anyone who loves honey and eats it by the spoonful with snacks or on breakfast toast.

5 out of 5 stars The "Assam Mangalam" of Honeys   August 7, 2007

Is this the honey for you? If you prefer the darker, more intense flavour of an Assam Mangalam to a Darjeeling, savour the rich complexity of a complex (but not overly tannic)Burgundy to a Beaujolais, and welcome the variety of spices and fragrances afforded by Indian or Moroccan cuisine, you will enjoy this honey. Manuka is to clover or orange honey as blackstrap molasses is to white sugar. If Manuka was a maple syrup, it would be the robust Grade B rather than the lighter, more delicate Grade A. Manuka is not a meek little honey that will impart only sweetness, so use it in recipes and beverages where you will enjoy its assertive, robust nature.

Expensive - but well worth the price!
