My favorite hot cereal May 7, 2008

I started using this when I went on a reduced calorie low cholesterol diet, and it has been a lifesaver. Relatively low calorie, very filling, easy and quick to make, and I love the flavor. I'll eat it plain or with cinnamon and cocoa, etc. depending on my mood. It's healthy, fights cholesterol and is really great if you're watching your calories and need some comfort food to fill your belly without trashing your waistline. I will eat this practically (if not) every day for many years to come if it is available. The steel cut oatmeal is also very good, but higher in calories and not microwaveable, so it's not quite as practical for me. This oat bran cereal is about as perfect as a hot cereal can get for my needs and preferences.

I have just recently discovered McCann's oatmeal products for myself. I love their quick cooking and instant regular flavor varieties. I have just tried their oat bran cereal and I am really amazed. I could never imagine that oat bran could taste so good. It's goodness goes without saying (6 grams of fiber per serving). I have ordered 12 boxes (to take advantage of free shipping) and have absolutely no regrets. This product will become my family's new favorite product.

I find this product a superiour one compared to others on the market. It tastes delicious when cooked with half water and half low fat milk. I know that once eaten for breakfast, my wife will not be hungry for quite a few hours afterwards and that in itself is a boon to any busy mother or grandmother. Because McCanns oatbran is imported from Ireland, it is not always easy to find in local stores. Hence the beauty of finding it here. Not only can I be guaranteed reliability, but also it is shipped directly to my doorstep! (at no extra charge) What more could a person want?

This is the only gluten-free brand of oatbran that I know of. It is tasty to eat hot for breakfast, low calorie (80 calories per serving), high fiber, and the muffin recipe on the back is gluten-free and easy and tasty. Amazon had been selling it for 12 dollars per 6 boxes, and I've ordered 12 boxes so far, and was about to reorder. I hope that the lack of availability is only temporary.

I ordered this along with the steel cut oats, and use it primarily as an addition to the oatmeal for texture and fiber. A good addition to your daily diet.
