Yummy, crunchy and so much better than the Quaker brand August 19, 2008 Daddio (NWUS) Yeah, it's got 260 mg of salt. Big whoop. Don't buy it, don't eat it, whatever. This stuff is great tasting, and doesn't crumble, leaving 4 ounces of dust in the bottom of the package. Like Quaker oat squares. My only beef is the people who box this stuff up for Amazon. The boxes were pretty well mangled after delivery, and now I'm wondering if there is that annoying 4 ounces of crumbs and dust at the bottom, after all.
Delicious. Nutritious. Great with blueberries. August 13, 2008 meembo (Connecticut) Price is competitive. Product is delicious - the touch of molasses is perfect. The oats are great for my cholesterol. What's not to love?

...about oats, as defined in his Dictionary: a grain, eaten in England by horses and in Scotland by people. But he didn't have Barbara's Bakery Bite Shredded Oats, nor do any other good folk in the benighted realms of "Old Europe." Oh, I carry as many boxes as customs will allow when I visit my starveling fellow musicians in France and Spain, but I can't make a dent in the general deprivation. What President Obama needs to do, as his first gesture to restore amity between the Old World and the tarnished New, is to launch a Marshall Plan for shipping vast loads of Barbara's Bakery Bite Shredded Oats to European ports... by sailing vessel of course, to reduce America's carbon bigfoot print. [This is, by the way, the only boxed cold breakfast cereal I've ever actually eaten with pleasure, other than on a backpacking trip.]
crunchy and not too sweet May 3, 2008 sandy (barcelona * SPAIN) Barbara's Shredded Oats is an exception to breakfast cereals. It's excellent for a crunchy snack, not too sweet but addictive. I used to buy it at Wild Oats and Whole Foods; it used to cost $2.99 per box (5 years ago). Re: claims of health benefits, read the label and judge for yourself. A healthier breakfast option would be to make your own mueesli with steel-cut or rolled oats soaked a couple of hours in water (not cooked). Add nuts, seeds, and/or fresh/dried fruit. I don't like to mix dairy (ie, yogurt) with fresh fruit, but many people do. According to a vegetarian cooking teacher, this concoction was fed to orphans in Europe post WWII and it helped nourish them back to health. Chewy but not crunchy and hardly any effort.[...] Go for Barbara's for a crunchy breakfast, but make your own mueesli for a really healthy start.
My favorite cereal December 30, 2007 S. Murphy (Midwest, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This cereal is my favorite. I love that it is oat flour and sweetened with molasses instead of sugar. This cereal is more expensive than some others, but when it is in our house, it's the first box everyone reaches for.
