Gyokuro is the very finest of Japan's Teas. This tea is protected under 90% shade for 20 days while developing. When the first buds appear the entire area is covered with bamboo - reducing the effects of photosynthesis. The tea then develops a higher cholorophyll content (making the leaves a dark green).
